The Russian Avant-garde Collection in Museum Ludwig
Peter and Irene Ludwig’s interest in the Russian avant-garde also dates to the 1970s. They acquired works by Vladimir Burliuk, Aleksandra Ekster, Pavel Filonov, Kazimir Malevich, Lyubov Popova, Aleksandr Rodchenko and many others, most of which were from Galerie Gmurzynska, Cologne. Today the Museum Ludwig owns one of the most comprehensive and important collections of Russian avant-garde art outside Russia.
Here you will find the holdings of the Russian avant-garde.
